The Maktar Story Est. California Designed in Taipei Local storage
Your memories, kept — and kept yours.
Maktar makes hardware that helps you keep a local copy of the photos and files that matter. Choose automatic backup while charging, portable file storage or hardware-encrypted USB storage. App, account and connection requirements vary by product.
Where we started & what we believe
A backup that answers to you, not a server farm.
Maktar was founded in California with a practical idea: make it easier to keep a local copy of the files that matter. Local storage can complement a cloud service and give you another place to turn when you need your photos or documents.
Our hardware and software work together to make local storage part of everyday life. Each product has a different role, from automatic phone backup to portable storage and encrypted USB access. Check the product page for its setup, compatibility and storage requirements.
Keep a local copy of your memories, on storage you control.
Keep an extra copy on storage you control, with no recurring backup-storage subscription.
Local storage gives you another copy to manage. Keep your devices and accounts protected, check your backups regularly, and keep an additional copy of irreplaceable files.
