Maktar was founded in California by people who had watched the cloud quietly change the deal. The photos you took stopped feeling like yours: scanned to train models you never agreed to, parked behind a monthly fee, and gone the moment a card declined. We thought a backup should do the opposite — sit in your pocket and answer only to you.
So we build the device, not the data center. Every product is designed and engineered in Taipei, Taiwan, and made in Taiwan, by a team of hardware and software engineers and MFi specialists who treat someone else's family photos the way they'd want their own treated. The promise is plain: what you save stays on the thing in your hand, readable for years, with nothing to log into and nothing to renew.
We'd rather sell you one good device once than rent you back your own memories forever.
